So I've known for a while (just a gut feeling) that Beth or Carol would die. Now my bets had always been on Beth dying before Carol as I felt her saving the group from Terminus redeemed her and made her more of an asset than Beth. At this point we had barely seen Beth this season and only in a few episodes but with the last 3 weeks worth of episodes - we all got one week closer to knowing who would be killed off. In my house we almost started taking bets that Beth would be the one - and last night cemented that Maggie's beloved little sister Beth was gone. What made everything worse about this death was that it was totally preventable! I knew watching the exchange between Dawn and Rick for the officers and Carol/Beth that something wasn't going to go as planned and that either one of our group would fire first or accidentally trip and kill someone or something - I wasn't sure what to expect but I just felt sick almost the entire episode waiting. Then it happened - after the exchange - Dawn wanted Noah back and Beth just would let it go as Dawn whispered under her breathe ( I knew you'd be back)....from there it all just went down hill. I cried! Daryl and Rick's reactions just set off a wave of emotion as I couldn't believe another one from "our group" was gone. I instantly felt for Maggie - as Michonne had just told her that Beth was alive and that Rick and the rest of the group went to get her. Seeing Maggie's reaction was worse than I imagined and I fell nothing but sadness for her. She's the last of the Greene family and after losing Hershel and now Beth - I don't know if she'll ever be that same. Watch and let me know what you think? *I'm not going to do a outline of the whole episode because if your a fan you've been watching and if not this post won't make sense to you anyway.*
So I'm just going to jump right in with the major spoiler - " THEY ATE BOB'S LEG". WHAT THE HELL! Ok, so we all kinda feel like had Bob told Sasha about being bit - I'm sure the group could have saved him like they did Hershel. Now my hope is that since I'm pretty sure he was bit, that the "Terminus" group just ate "TAINTED MEAT". Since it was cooked - who knows what affect that will have but aren't we all just hoping they die already. Gareth and his group are out for revenge and I can't stand seeing "My Group" lose anyone. So hopefully this upcoming episode will have Sasha realizing that Bob is missing and some how or another get him out of this situation before they take another limb. I love that the show is lining up to the comics. This was a scene straight from the comic books - so I'm too excited! Though I'm not always a fan of following the comics cause that means that characters I love - could be knocking on death's door soon but NEGAN hasn't arrived so I'm happy about that! Soon as I see him - that means Glenn and Rick's Hand are in danger! Sasha and Bob - I love them as a couple. First I love when any of the folks in "My Group" get together (Maggie & Glenn) but these two just melt my heart. Sasha had been so hard core at first - always willing to kill (instead of being killed), first to want to shot and then ask questions - she was definitely a live wire. But now I'm just pissed cause soon as she get's a boo - they gotta have go missing, losing a limb and in the arms of a damn mad man (Gareth). It's just a mess! Hopefully (which I know it won't) love will prevail! Then we have Daryl and Carol chasing the mystery speeding car. Now did anyone else think to themselves - "How the hell are they still driving around"? I mean literally when we saw them take Beth last season - they sped off so fast that I could barely make out the type of car it was. So this time around when we saw it - they actually gave us a better look at it - the back window had a cross on it. Makes me wonder if this is apart of the same group who carved "You'll Burn For This" in the side of the church. Like Carl pointed out - someone was trying to get in - I can't wait to find out what happened. Last nights episode was full of eye openers but 3 of "My Group - Daryl, Carol & Bob" are missing and the main part of the group have no idea where they are. Articles & News Related to The Walking Dead: Week 2 eonline.com RANT: The Walking Dead: #BobBQ is possibly one of the best Twitter hashtags a show has ever inspired. We feel sad for Bob, but have to say that we kind of knew he was a little doomed as soon as the episode started focusing a little too much on his and Sasha's adorable relationship. He also made the mistake of heading out of the church alone, and that turned out to be a terrible mistake, as it usually is on this show. We just hope the fact that Gareth and crew are slowly eating his body parts isn't going to ruin his refreshing optimism. RANT: The Walking Dead: The zombie swamp they found in the basement of the food bank has now been added to the long list of worst nightmares this show has already given us. Ugh forever. This is me! If you know me at all or for that matter are in my life you know that from October - December and then February - March...Every single Sunday is devoted to preparation for the 9pm airing of the The Walking Dead's newst episode. And Season Five just kicked off with the wildest but best episode in the season's history as it relates to openers. This last episode was just everything that any true fan - had been waiting for. Last season are beloved characters where trapped in a train car with just about everyone except Carol, Tyreese, Beth and Judith. That all ended tonight! Now if you don't watch the show...(I wouldn't understand why) then you would not understand how some of the more touching moments just made us TWDSF(The Walking Dead Super Fans) almost shed a tear. Sasha and Tyreese finally knowing they are both alive since being seperated almost all last season, Daryll & Carol finally seeing each other again after Rick making her leave the prison and not knowing her fate, and finally Rick, Carl and Judith meeting again after assumptions being made that she was dead. TEAR JERKING EPISODE!! This season opener finally answered multiple questions and also opened up a few more. In particularly- Will Rick allow Tara to stay with group after seeing her with the Governor's crew - can he really trust her? Will Daryl finally know what made Rick as Carol to leave the group in the first place? What is it that Abraham Ford and Rosita are waiting to find a right time to tell everyone about? WOOOOW so many questions answer but so many un-answered and luckily - Scott Gimple has promised that we will have answers soon enough! OH....and MORGAN SHOWS UP AT THE END!!!!! WHAT THE HELL? We all thought he was crazy...Last time we saw hime he wasn't in his right mind....Clearly somethings different! Happy to see him.. All in all - I was so happy with this episode and can't wait to see what this season brings? - Hopefully not the death of Glenn or Daryl! My favorites :) PS: I love reactions to episodes from Social Media. Here I share a few of my favorites! L. I love my TV Shows and I get really serious about them. Missing a show can cause an argument and being interrupted during one can cause a complete melt down on my end (I'm serious-just ask my husband or Mom). Anyway I was talking to a friend yesterday about Scandal starting back up and how anxious we are to see where the Olivia Pope story will take us this season (hopefully more than 12-13 episodes since Kerry isn't pregnant this season). So I decided I would do a listing of all the shows I'm excited to see back and new shows that peaked my interest. Gotham - I think Fox is totally on to something taking the fictional city of Gotham that we are all so familiar with from the Batman Comic book series and turning it into a rare look into the life of all the characters before they officially become the well-known characters - Batman, Poison Ivy, Cat-woman and the Penguin. I'm also a huge Jada Pinkett-Smith fan so seeing her in this was a selling point for me to watch anyway. Scandal - Now there are some people like my mother - who will just refuse to watch this show anymore because they are tired of the silly faces Olivia makes or the un-dying story of Olivia and Fitz but I can't wait to see what this season brings us in the world of SCANDAL. Since Columbus Short doesn't know what to do with success and will not be returning to the series (total bummer cause I liked his character), I'm really interested in seeing where the story will take us with everyone dealing with his (possible) death, Mama Pope running around free, Olivia and Fitz, Olivia and Jake and the Dad. Homeland - OK so anyone who watches this show knows that Brody was supposedly killed at the end of last season. I just don't believe it since Carrie was pregnant with Brody's child and I don't know if I believe that with only a few seasons in the story of Carrie & Brody is just dead in the water. Plus I feel like though we watched him hang to death - a few things just made me feel like we may see him again- in the future. A girl can hope right? The Following - So I started watching this on Netflix and became instantly addicted. I missed all of season 2 because I hadn't finished season 1 and hate watching something when I don't know what's going on but I heard it has been renewed for a season 3. No word yet on when that season will get a premiere date though. How to Get Away with Murder - Law & Order SVU - I have been keeping up with this for years. Nothing new. I'm excited that Olivia has finally been given a chance to foster the little boy we saw all last season that was abandoned but I wish they would have kept her relationship with Brian going. It sucks that her relationships are always so far and few. The Mindy Project - I've loved this show from the beginning and so excited it was re-newed. First episode of the season premiered on Tuesday and so I'm looking forward to seeing where Danny and Mindy's relationship goes. If you've been a fan from the beginning - you too have been waiting for them two to get together. Black*ish - So I'm not sure what this show is about but according to the description says it's about a family who lives in suburbia and deal with black/white racial problems. Hummmm....Not sure if this will be on very long. Sleepy Hollow - I was a fan from the beginning and lost touch with the show after the middle of the first season but I'm catching up to tune back in,. Plus, I love anything that is dark, scary and gloomy so this was right up my alley. ********DRUM ROLL PLEASE ********* ********DRUM ROLL PLEASE ********* ********DRUM ROLL PLEASE ********* THE WALKING DEAD - This show is the icing on my cake every single year! Loyal fan since the beginning - everything stops when this show starts up again on October 12th. No calls, no emails, no work - nothing will stop me from tuning in to see what this show is going to bring in the very very long awaited premiere of Season 5. When last season ended - it was not looking good for Rick and the crew but his final words have carried us all into a mind of suspenseful anxiousness awaiting this season - "They're gonna feel pretty stupid when they find out...they're screwing with the wrong people."...BAMM (drops the mic & fades to black). This is of course how I imagined it last season, very dramtic and in Beyonce (baby bump fashion on MTV). Those words have run my life since last March. LAST MARCH- I can't even believe it's been that long. Life obviously didn't stop but my heart drops every time a season ends because from then on out - it's a disappointing waiting game. OCTOBER 12TH, PEOPLE - TUNE IN! Haven't watched the show ever or missed some episodes or seasons - catch up on Netflix. LET'S GO FALL!!!! I've missed you :) L. "Lost Concept"
My Movie Grading - C- Disappointing as usual. This movie started out with a promising beginning and melted into a total disappointment as the long it went on the more the promise of being a good horror flick went out the door. It's a pretty decent version of "found footage" horror but it just didn't end on a horror note - more of a confusing note. The story is all about a young alchemy scholar trying to finish a exploration her father couldn't after he committed suicide. Her and a team of friends eventually end up in the catacombs below Paris - searching for a stone. Well there was promise of a good scare - which at a few points there was but it ended with a couple of survivors and nothing be really solved. Wasn't a bad watch if you don't mind not being scared shitless. Check it out - in theaters now. That's my take, L.
"Good Book...Ok Movie" My Movie Rating - C If you aren't familiar with the "Beautiful" book series then let me enlighten you. The "Beautiful" series books are written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and there are 4 books in the series 1)Beautiful Creatures 2)Beautiful Darkness 3)Beautiful Chaos 4) Beautiful Redemption. I only read the first two books and they were quite entertaining. The movie mimics the books quite well and follow the love story of 16 year old Ethan Wate and 15 year old Lena Duchannes. The story of the two begins quite mysteriously as Lena appears in one of Ethans dreams before he even meets her. This occurrence leads us to think that there is something spiritual or magical between the two. Otherwise, why else would someone you've never met appear in a dream. Anyway, they finally come face to face while attending the same class in high school, striking up more mystery around Lena as she is new to the school and to the town as the story takes place in - Gatlin, S.C. Raised by her uncle, who is the town shut in, living in a huge mansion plantation with various rumors about him swirling around town. Ethan finds Lena sweet and doesn't seem concerned with any of the rumors that plague her family. But after various events, the two can't deny their love and begin dating but not before learning that Lena is a witch - who has until her 16th birthday to make a decision about being a Light (Good Witch) or Dark (Bad Witch). As most movies & books do - the lead up to her decision is hounded by various events. The movie follows the book pretty close and is quite fascinating. I would recommend reading the book first, if you have time, as with most books turned to movies - you will be lost if you don't know the back story. That's my take, L. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beautiful_Creatures_%28novel%29
"Killing for Kicks= The Possibility of the Future"
My Movie Grading - B - The Purge released in 2013 was a box office flop for the most part receiveing mixed and negative reviews from most critics. I myself wasn't a fan in the beginning because the concept seemed a little far fetched for my taste but I got bored one weekend and watched it. Well to my suprise the plot was actually pretty good - a little corny but it actually have a good beginning, well transitioned climax and pretty good ending. Now when I heard about the release of a second movie or sequel based off the first movies - mixed review - I thought it too would be another silly sequel that stretches too far to make something out of nothing. Kyle Smith from the New York Post wrote a really non-flattering review about the movie to which I think bought up a couple of valid points. " I’ve read ingredients labels that were scarier than “The Purge: Anarchy,” a plodding horror flick that mistakenly thinks it has big ideas...Five random citizens find themselves exposed on the street, trying to keep alive during Purge night. They spend most of the movie creeping around the darkness exchanging gunfire with Purge-loving hooligans. The technical term for the cinematography is, I believe, “black sock placed over camera lens.” Each dull character is barely discernible in the murk...James DeMonaco, the deeply confused writer-director of both “Purge” movies, can’t decide whether Purging is a good thing — whether it would be exploited by the poor (yay!) or the rich (boo!). " Clearly from his review - he wasn't a fan but as I said - he mentioned some good points. The Purge: Anarchy was actually a good movie. A friend had hyped me up on it since she liked the first one and knew I was on the fence about it but still suggested that I go see what the second one had to offer too. I was pleasantly entertained. The plot breaks off into 3 different main characher stories eventually connecting them all and does a good job of explaining and completing each characters story. The acting which is what I always worry about in sequels was really good. No corny scences - No loving making sequences - No fantasy tales or flights of fancy - the storyline just came together and kept my attention. It was full of death but not a lot of gore just blood, murder and mysterious folks. I would suggest this movie for anyone who enjoyed the first film and is looking for possibly a closed chapter to the thought or possibilities of purging in the future. Matter of fact - I pose the question - Who would you purge on - if purging was government sanctioned? That's my take, L. "Action Packed From The Start"
My Movie Grade - B (Slight Spoiler Alert) Oh how I enjoy a great action movie like the next person and this one was no different. Starts off with a flash back kind of clip about 9/11 so that you see and understand how Jack Ryan gets involved with the CIA. He evetually is placed in an undercover job to as a Financial Compliance Officer and uncovers something fishy with one of the Russian accounts that his firm handles. This eventually leads into a chase around the world to catch the Russians with their hand in the Terrorizim cookie jar. Of course Jack Ryan prevails and is the hero of the day. A couple of reasons I'm giving this movie a B is because - I like many folks - love to see things explode and cause a big mess - a realistic mess. There were no big chaotic explosions or realistic mass panics - just a lot of screaming, yelling and then a sad little explosion near the end. The other reason was because Hollywood is built on hopeless romantics - so of course there is a love story tied in. Chris Pine and Keira Knightly worked really well as couple though so I was very pleased with the casting. All in all a pretty good movie! Rent it from Redbox as it was released a few weeks ago. |
