| "Live, Die, Repeat...Until you Win" My Movie Grading - B+ I really enjoyed this movie for some reason. My husband seemed to think it was annoying, watching Tom Cruise repeat the same situations over and over again but I found it to be quite interesting. Though he repeats the situations over and over again - each time he learns something new and shares the information to save the world from the Mimics. The alien creatures in this film - looked a little corny at first but watching them move - they are extremely fast, semi-intelligent and lethal weapons. They massacre thousands in one swoop - which you'll see in the beginning of the film. The plot of this new age sci-fi thriller is that an officer finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with the alien race - called Mimics (they literally mimic time if you kill the right type of mimic). His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior - Sergeant Rita Vrataski who may help him get closer to defeating the enemy and winning the war. This film is filled with action and lots of explosions - if you like that kind of thing. Storyline is pretty solid and actually takes us on a different ride than most Alien/Sci-Fi movies. I am a huge Emily Blunt fan and was really excited to see her in a role that isn't as common as her typical romantic or bitchy attitude roles. She plays a total bad ass as Rita Vrataski and is actually really convincing. She still has a bit of an attitude but I think it comes with the territory in this film - she's a solider and a bad ass one at that. Her and Tom Cruises chemistry is also great - they don't turn into a sappy lovey couple- though he does develop feelings for her - she never allows him to act on those feelings until possibly at the end of the film. Haven't seen it or heard of it....Check it out! It's worth it. It's worth it. It's worth it. (Sorry I find my self repeating things now after watching the film 3 times over the weekend) :) L. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edge_of_Tomorrow_%28film%29 |
