Crimson Peak won't be released until close to the end of the year but everything I've read and seen so far as my interest extremely peaked. The film is by horror extraordinaire Guillermo del Toro about a young woman (Played by Mia Wasikowska - Alice & Wonderland) who is swept off her feet by a charasmatic suitor played by Tom Hiddleston (Thor) and moves into his gothic mansion which seems to house a little more than she bargained for including a jealous sister played by Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty). Filming has already begun and some got a sneak peek at the set during the San Deigo Comic Con this past July. Sadly, no trailer has been released yet but hopefully something soon. I'll update everyone as soon as I see it. This looks like it will be one of this years most promising horror films as it has an awesome & genius director. Anyone else excited to see what this film has to offer? Waiting Patiently, L. There is probably no person alive more excited about Jurassic World than my husband. This man is so into the Jurassic Films that he does the one thing he complains to me about - watches the films every time they come on and even uses them for background noise when cleaning or doing other household activities. This is just an introduction for some and a notice of release for others - who may not have known there even was a 4th film in the series being worked on. Jurassic World has been plagued with the "Development from Hell" label as it has been almost a decade in the making. The original director - Steven Spielberg pulled out quite early in the discussions as arguments between Universal Studios and the writers became increasingly dysfunctional. Never mind those arguments now because the movie was finally given a green light and filming began in Hawaii in early 2014.
The plot according to Wikipedia is "Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. This new park is owned by the Masrani Corporation. Owen (portrayed by Chris Pratt), a member of Jurassic World's on-site staff, conducts behavioral research on the Velociraptors. After many years, Jurassic World's attendance rates begin to decline and a new attraction created to re-spark visitor interest gravely backfires." The cast includes - Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, BD Wong and Jake Johnson among others. My expectation for this film is that it better not disappoint as it took longer than it should to have made. I hope that the film is full of action and drama and doesn't turn into some silly and disappointing addition to the series. I'm reluctant to even give my thoughts on how the film will turn out without Steven Spielberg but I'm going to try and have some faith in Colin Trevorrow - the Director assigned to the film. Very few things have leaked about the film yet which really excites me that it's being kept totally under raps - usually this means it's worth the wait! From the very very few photos taken of the cast in action - everything looks very typical of the Jurassic story line - lots of grunge, dirt and of course Dinosaur action. The movie is slated for a June 2015 release and let's hope nothing happens that changes the release date. Here's hoping! Are you as excited about the fourth film? L. Photo Credit - Entertainment Weekly - ew.com & Yahoo Info Credit- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jurassic_World Check out the trailer first... I'm not a huge fan of historical dramas, war movies or western films but this one caught my eye because it actually looks like the story might be more about the banding to together than bandaging someone's body parts back together like Saving Private Ryan was. I'm intrigued to see what the story of one tank had to do with WWII and since I haven't heard anything about it being non-fiction - my assumption is that this is a slightly fictional tale or that it has been changed some from the original version. Casting caught my eye too as it features some very familiar faces including - Brad Pitt (who doesn't know him), Shia LeBeouf (Lawless), Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) and a host others. Will you check it out?
Patiently waiting, L. Now if you don't know the story of Ramesses and Moses - what rock have you been living under? The story of two brothers -one born of royal blood and one born of Jewish blood. They grow up together - building a unbreakable bond until the secret past of one is bough to light - forever changing the lives of the two brothers. Does anyone remember the Dreamworks version titled " The Prince of Egypt"? Cmon - you must remember? It had wonderful songs and also a duet featuring Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Anyway - This new UN-animated version looks to be just as good but with a little more history back-story and also much more action. I'm totally looking forward to seeing how this will play out with all the advancements that effects have made. I'm expecting a really entertaining story. The film features a really great cast including - Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby), Christian Bale (Dark Knight) and Aaron Paul(Breaking Bad). Check out the trailer and see for yourself - if this is something you'd want to see! L. Release Date: February 14th, 2015 (Valentines Day...How Ironic) Fifty Shades of Grey... Anyone who is knowledgeable, watches the news, reads a magazine or surfs the net, should already know what this movie is about! The storyline is taken directly from the erotic thrillers own pages. Fifty Shades of Grey took the world by storm when it was published in 2011 and got the hype of it's life in 2012. No one could stop talking about the mysterious - Christian Grey and his love interest Ana Steele. The sexy story behind this book - still has folks talking about it almost 3 years after it's release. As far as the movie goes - there was a lot of scandal revolving around making this book into a movie but it happened and after various casting changes - Dakota Johnson (daughter of Don Johnson & Melaine Griffith), James Dornan, Rita Ora and Marcia Gay Harden are among others that made the final cut. Exotic, Erotic and Mind Twisting themes make this a 2015 must see. Wait for it, L. Anyone who has read a Zane book, will be excited for this movie. If you are unfamiliar with her work - let me enlighten you - Zane a born and raised Washington, DC native is the author behind erotic works like Nervous, Addicted, Afterburn, Skyscraper and The Sisters of APF. What young girl doesn't know about these? Anyway, I started reading them back in high school and just loved them. Didn't stop reading them until early last year - when the last few releases didn't live up to the expectation. But nonetheless - we all know about that odd failed attempt at turning her books into a a show on Cinemax titled "Zanes: Sex Chronicles" but Hollywood is now taking one of her first best selling books and turning it into a movie with the same title. I can't express enough how excited I am that this has finally been given a release date because for years it had been plagued by casting issues, production cost issues, find a director, etc. But it's been filmed and will be released with an all star and extremely sexy cast - Sharon Leal (Dreamgirls), Boris Kodjoe and featuring Tyson Beckford. This cast couldn't be any better.Take a look at the trailer and drop me a line on whether or not you plan to support this film!
Extremely Excited, L. I'm extremely excited to even be writing about this post! So I will start off with my love for all things related to the Hunger Games. Whether the books or the movies, press junkets, exclusive film festival releases, trailer releases - the whole thing I'm just really excited about the franchise. I was not originally a fan of the Hunger Games. I didn't actually decide to read the book until the casting of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss began to get all crazy and everyone who had read the books kept talking about how she would be such a great fit for the movies trilogy. To be honest - I hadn't even paid attention to who she was until I remembered seeing in her on the cover of a movie call "Winter's Bone" - how I remembered her from that - when I didn't even see the movie - I have no idea. (Real Quick - One thing you'll learn from me is that my family especially my fiance and parents know that anything related to movies -I KNOW! Even if I haven't seen the movie - I could probably tell you who was in it and what other movies - they have been in! I love movies that much!) Anyway - a coworker bragged about how she read the books in a few days and loved the story so I decided I would show her up and read them in a few days too. That didn't pan out (took me almost a month) but I did read the books in entirety and loved them. Each character bought something different to the table and some characters like Peeta - I just came to love and others like President Snow - I came to hate. Around the time the first movie came out was when I had finished the books and was so disappointed in direction they took the first movie that I was almost turned off from going back to see Catching Fire. I mean when I say they messed the storyline up, had JLAW (Jennifer Lawrence) acting way ruder than she was in the book and missed MAJOR events from the book - I was hot. My thing is -don't make a movie based off a book - if you refuse to do it correctly or exactly. Like I know somethings aren't possible but for gosh sakes - graphics have grown by leaps and bounds over the past 15 yeaars, so many things are possible. I'm hoping that the direction of the third film is as awesome as the direction of the second film. Catching Fire told the story almost verbatum of how it was in the book and was really well done compared to the first film. Lets hope that the first part of Mockingjay lives up to expectation and that the 2nd and final part of the trilogy finishes everything with the bang the audiences are expecting. Lots of new faces have been added to the cast and plenty of cast returning to the final films 2 part trilogy including - Evan Ross (son of Diana Ross), Julianne Moore (President Coin), the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman (returning as Plutarch Heavensbee), Donald Sutherland (President Snow) and of course JLaw (Jennifer Lawrence returning as Katniss). Get ready for one hell of a last ride with this triology and if you havent read the books - Start Now! That's my take, L. |
